Andreia Nóbrega (1973, Funchal) vive e trabalha no Funchal.

É licenciada em Artes Plásticas pela ESAD.CR – Escola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha (2002).

Desde então, tem participado em diversas exposições, tanto coletivas como individuais, e colabora ocasionalmente como ilustradora em publicações.

O seu percurso artístico está profundamente enraizado na observação e contemplação da natureza. Através de um contacto íntimo com o meio natural — marcado pelo registo e recolha de elementos — surgem paisagens singulares, reinterpretadas e reinventadas no seu trabalho plástico.

Desde 2020, desenvolve um projeto de investigação e ilustração dedicado às plantas tintureiras, em colaboração com outros criadores, aprofundando o diálogo entre arte, ciência e ecologia.

Criar Tintas Naturais com Plantas Tintureiras
Já imaginaste transformar folhas, raízes e flores em cores vibrantes?
Neste workshop, vamos explorar o fascinante mundo das plantas tintureiras e aprender, passo a passo, a extrair pigmentos naturais para criar tintas ecológicas.
Será uma verdadeira experiência de laboratório criativo, onde vais:
Conhecer as principais plantas tintureiras e as suas tonalidades.
Aprender técnicas simples de extração e fixação da cor.
Produzir a tua própria tinta natural e experimentar diferentes aplicações artísticas.
Não é necessária experiência prévia — apenas curiosidade e vontade de pôr as mãos na massa!

Fase 1 – Breve Introdução (duração 20 mts) 
Informação das plantas: ruivinha; pastel; cochonilha e dragoeiro, demonstração e testes de cor
Intervenção com as plantas no local: vinagreira e cúrcuma

Fase 2 – Em Laboratório (duração 20 mts)
Ação:
Vinagreira (vão triturar e filtrar)
Cúrcuma (vão descascar, picar ou triturar a cúrcuma) 

Fase 3 – Em Laboratório (duração 20 mts) – Introdução dos reagentes.
Introdução de reagentes líquidos e sólidos:
Limão, vinagre e ovo
Sal grosso, bicarbonato de sódio e cal hidratada

Fase 4 – Laboratório (duração 20/30 mts) – Teste de cor/Suporte formato postal +  Diálogo aberto
Cada um terá um postal de papel de aguarela mais pincel para fazer testes de cor, um desenho, uma pintura.

Workshop Dye Plants – Nature Festival

Andreia Nóbrega * Biography

Andreia Nóbrega (1973, Funchal) lives and works in Funchal.
She holds a degree in Fine Arts from ESAD.CR – School of Arts and Design, Caldas da Rainha (2002).
Since then, she has taken part in various group and solo exhibitions and has occasionally collaborated as an illustrator in publications.

Her artistic journey is deeply rooted in the observation and contemplation of nature. Through an intimate connection with the natural environment — marked by the recording and collection of elements — unique landscapes emerge, reinterpreted and reinvented in her artistic work.

Since 2020, she has been developing a research and illustration project dedicated to dye plants, in collaboration with other creators, deepening the dialogue between art, science, and ecology.

Creating Natural Paints with Dye Plants
Have you ever imagined transforming leaves, roots, and flowers into vibrant colors?
In this workshop, we will explore the fascinating world of dye plants and learn, step by step, how to extract natural pigments to create eco-friendly paints.
It will be a true creative laboratory experience, where you will:

Discover the main dye plants and their color ranges.
Learn simple techniques for extracting and fixing color.
Produce your own natural paint and experiment with different artistic applications.
No prior experience is required — only curiosity and the willingness to get hands-on!

Phase 1 – Brief Introduction (20 minutes)
Information about plants: ruivinha (madder), pastel (woad), cochineal, and dragon tree. Demonstration and color testing.
On-site plant intervention: roselle (vinagreira) and turmeric.

Phase 2 – In the Laboratory (20 minutes)
Activity:
Roselle (vinagreira): crushing and filtering.
Turmeric: peeling, chopping, or crushing the root.

Phase 3 – In the Laboratory (20 minutes) – Introduction of Reagents
Adding liquid and solid reagents:
Lemon, vinegar, and egg.
Coarse salt, baking soda, and slaked lime.

Phase 4 – Laboratory (20/30 minutes) – Color Testing / Postcard Format + Open Dialogue
Each participant will receive a watercolor paper postcard and a brush to test colors, create a drawing, or a painting.
